The Bill Dooley Triangle East Chapter of North Carolina for the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame, Inc had their 15th Annual Dinner Banquet in Durham April 19th at North Carolina Central University. Every year, The NFF pays tribute to a select few with awards of excellence for exhibiting superior qualities of scholarship, citizenship and leadership. Cody Woodall was one of nineteen recipients at this year’s banquet. Charlie Adams past Executive Director (42 year’s service) for the North Carolina High School Athletic Association was the guest speaker for the banquet and Cody’s presenter for his award. It was a memorable evening with celebrity guests attending such as Coach Bill Dooley (UNC, Va. Tech, and Wake Forest), NCSU Coach Tom O’Brien, Duke Coach David Cutcliffe, and chapter Hall of Fame member Don McCauley (UNC and Baltimore Colt running back). The highlight of the evening was the Distinguished American Award presented by chapter President George “Bulldog” Smith to Herman “Ike” Boone who was portrayed in the movie “Remember the Titans” by Denzel Washington. Garner football Coach Nelson Smith attended the banquet in support of Cody; as well as Cody’s parents Dave and Karen.
